Articles 7 & 8
2nd Sep 2022
I am very happy to announce that Central Integrated PS have began working towards becoming an official 'Rights Respecting School'.
To do this, as a whole school community, we need to promote and advocate for children to understand their own rights. We need to achieve the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards to receive the 'Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA)'.
This is a process that gives the children a platform to understand and advocate for their own rights too. Ensuring that each child knows that they matter and are worthy of every single right.
Today, we had an assembly which explained that a child's 'needs' are closely linked to a child's rights and that adults make sure that children are given these needs and these rights.
Our first step towards the Bronze award is creating awareness of children's rights. So, we have introduced our 'Right of the Fortnight'.
Our first rights are Articles 7 & 8 of the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). These are the right to birth registration, name, nationality and care and the right to protection and preservation of identity.
Stay tuned for our next 'Right of the Fortnight'.
